Sacred Ritual for the New Moon in Sagittarius

Posted by Sharron Basanti on

Each New Moon nudges you to follow your dreams and breathe new energy into a certain aspect of your life. The New Moon will occur on November 23rd, 2022 at 2:57 pm (PST) and falls in the zodiac sign of Sagittarius.

The energy of the upcoming New Moon may spark your creativity and passion, as Sagittarius is a fire sign. Also, may conjure up what you need to leave behind in 2022 and what you want to manifest & create for yourself in 2023! The astrological sign of Sagittarius is known to be optimistic, high energy, inspirational, visionary, adventurous, and associated with spiritual pursuits & higher learning.

The ritual for the Sagittarius New Moon doesn't involve lighting candles or burning incense unless you want to. . .instead, the focus is on unleashing pearls of wisdom from your deep subconscious through spirit art. If the words spirit art triggered shadow feelings associated with not being an artist then I ask you to put that aside and embrace the imperfect, but perfect artist within you. The ritual doesn't require you to be an artist, only a channel for your deep subconscious and Spirit to flow through you in order to create art. The end result will be a canvas filled with messages for you to discover, explore, and receive.

You can do your ritual a day before, on the day, or a day after the New Moon, as the energy is still potent. You are welcome to use my ritual or adopt parts to help you create your personalized one. Please know that you don’t need to do a ritual for each New Moon, only connect to the ones that you feel drawn to. Your ritual doesn’t need to be complicated. Can be simple as lighting a candle.

As with any ritual, create sacred space for yourself to connect with your Higher-SELF. Depending on your New Moon traditions, you may want to light a candle, call in the elements, directions + guides, make a circle, ring a bell, etc. . . I personally don’t adhere to any rules or guidelines of how to create sacred space. I follow what rises up for me in my heart space, as the energy of each New Moon is unique, and I want my ritual to reflect where I am vibrationally.

The Ritual

Create space for yourself by turning your cell phone on mute, clearing off your table, and gathering your sacred tools, such as crystals, Tarot & Oracle decks, and candles that can assist you with tapping into your Higher-SELF and connecting with Spirit. Lay your sacred tools and remember to leave enough space for your canvas and paints. I enjoy dead silence when I am creating spirit art, but you might prefer to have music playing in the background.

If you don't own any art supplies, I encourage you to visit your local dollar store, where you should be able to find affordable acrylic paints, canvas boards, and brushes. I recommend purchasing only bottles of red, yellow, and blue acrylic paint, as those are primary colours from which you can produce purple, green, and orange. Alternatively, you can use watercolours. There is magic to mixing the primary colours together to create secondary and tertiary colours as per the universal colour wheel.

Add generous blobs of red, yellow, and blue paint onto the canvas. Begin by moving the paint around using your brush or better yet your fingers. Allow the primary colours to blend together on the blank canvas. As you do, you may find yourself falling into a meditative state. Let your worries & stress fade into the abyss by allowing thoughts to gently come in and go out. . .holding onto nothing.

As you paint, hold the energy of the upcoming year in your heart space. Tap into what is emerging and give that energy space to unfold through the colours on your canvas. You might start to see signs and symbols come into fruition from your art. Make a mental note of what rises up, as signs and symbols are the language of Spirit. The colours that emerge will also hold potent messages. Continue to paint until you intuitively feel that you are done.

Don't judge or be critical of what you have created. Your art is an oracle that holds divine messages from not only Spirit, but perhaps your Ancestors. You may find yourself channeling messages within minutes of creating your spirit art and may make a mad dash to journal what you are receiving. On the other hand, you may need to walk away and return to your spirit art when you are able to hold space for yourself to receive messages, which could take a few days or perhaps a couple of weeks. Please remember that there is no wrong or right way, only what works for you. Make sure to look at your canvas from all angles, as a sign or symbol might appear when you flip your painting upside down or sideways.

Spirit is multi-dimensional. . .and so is your art. If you are new to interpreting signs and symbols then your best resource besides your intuition is a dream dictionary. You can tuck your spirit art away or leave it on your altar. Spirit art is pure magic because you may see new signs and symbols come to life over the next several months.

  • This sounds fantastic. After 12 years living in the “winter birds” complex, 24 hours a day/365, basically alone, one other couple lived here but we rarely saw or spoke with each other for long periods, another couple retired and mi Ed back to live here permanently (that makes three full time residents out of 20 units. Anyway, they moved back to their apartment to live permanently, so now I have a friend snd she wants to learn everything I know although I don’t know that much. But this will be a great project we can do together. We get together during the New and Full moons. So exciting. Thank you my dear Sharron. Big holiday hug 🎄 Margie
